Meet Our Team

  • Ralph Andre - Judge

Ralph is the Co-Founder of CANVS and Executive Director of Mean Genius.

Guided by the mantra CREATE + INSPIRE, Ralph’s passion lies in connecting people through the intersection of design and technology.

Ralph believes in the integration of sustainability in public art. Public murals and street art can be a powerful platform for raising awareness about environmental issues, and many artists are now choosing to use eco-friendly paints and materials that minimize harm to the environment. Sustainable public art practices not only reduce the ecological footprint but also inspire communities to think about environmental preservation.

  • Doug Jay - Judge

Environmental Science & Sustainability Educator LHS

Doug is passionate about Indigenous Resource Management and Traditional Ecological Knowledge, or TEK.  There have been so many useful strategies, wisdom, and knowledge that have been lost from N. America's indigenous peoples with the colonization of Europeans centuries ago.

Along with language and culture, indigenous peoples were able to successfully manage their resources and live in relative sustainability with the land.  They were able to analyze natural cycles and use a scientific eye to find "best practice" of what worked and what didn't.

As brothers and sisters of these people, we must work with those who remain in order to gain insight and purpose to our actions.
